# Privacy Policy for Accountable

This Privacy Policy explains how Accountable ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") handles your information. We built Accountable around a simple principle: your health, fitness, and nutrition data belongs to you. It stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to sync it through Apple's own services.

## 1. Information We Collect

### 1.1 Information you provide directly

When you set up and use Accountable, you may provide:

- **Profile information:** name, sex, age, height, weight, activity level, and fitness goals (maintain, lose, or bulk), used to calculate a suggested daily calorie and macronutrient target.

- **Workout data:** exercises, sets, reps, weight, workout duration, custom workout plans you create, and scheduled/planned workouts on your calendar.

- **Nutrition data:** foods you log, calories, macronutrients (protein, carbs, fat), meal categorization, and any custom recipes you create.

- **Body measurements:** body weight entries over time, and optional body composition scan results (e.g., body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, visceral fat rating, and BMR) that you choose to enter, whether typed manually or read from a photo you take of a printed gym/clinic scan report.

- **Account identifier:** if you choose to sign in with Apple, we receive the unique, stable identifier Apple generates for your Apple ID, and — only if you choose to share it — your name and email address (which may be a private Apple-generated relay address).

### 1.2 Information from device features

- **Camera:** used only to scan food barcodes and, if you choose, to photograph a body composition scan report. Photos of scan reports are processed on your device using Apple's on-device text recognition (Vision framework) to help pre-fill data entry fields. We do not upload these photos anywhere.

- **Photo library:** if you choose to select a photo of a scan report instead of taking one live, the App uses Apple's standard photo picker, which does not grant the App broad access to your photo library — only the specific photo you select is shared with the App.

- **Apple Health:** if you enable Health sync in Settings, the App can read and write workout sessions, active energy (calories burned), dietary energy (calories consumed), and body weight to and from the Apple Health app, so your data stays consistent across the apps you use. You can disable this at any time in Accountable's settings or in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Health.

- **Notifications:** if you enable workout reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device. These are generated and delivered entirely on-device — no reminder content is sent to us or to any third party.

### 1.3 Information we do not collect

- We do not collect your precise or approximate **location**.

- We do not use **third-party analytics or advertising SDKs**, and the App does not display ads.

- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

## 2. How Your Information Is Stored

Accountable stores your data locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. By default, this data does not leave your device and is not transmitted to us or to any servers we operate — because we do not operate any servers that store your personal data.

If a future version of the App enables optional iCloud sync, your data would sync only through your own personal iCloud account (Apple's infrastructure), allowing your data to follow you across your own devices signed into the same Apple ID. We would never receive a copy of that data ourselves.

If you delete the App from your device, your locally stored data is deleted along with it (unless it has also been synced to your personal iCloud account, in which case it follows the normal deletion behavior of iCloud-backed apps).

## 3. Third-Party Services

Accountable uses the following third-party services strictly to provide the features you use:

### 3.1 USDA FoodData Central

When you search for a food or scan a barcode, the App sends your search term or the scanned barcode number to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's FoodData Central API to retrieve nutrition information. This request does not include your name, profile information, or any other personally identifying information — only the search term or barcode itself, along with an API key that identifies the app's request quota, not you personally. ### 3.2 Sign in with Apple

If you choose to sign in, authentication is handled entirely by Apple. We receive only the identifier (and, if you allow it, name/email) that Apple's Sign in with Apple service provides. We do not receive your Apple ID password or any other Apple account information.

### 3.3 Apple Health

As described in Section 1.2, Health data sharing is entirely opt-in, occurs directly between the App and the Health app on your device via Apple's HealthKit framework, and is never transmitted to us. In accordance with Apple's guidelines, we do not use data obtained through HealthKit for advertising or other data-mining purposes unrelated to health and fitness, and we do not sell HealthKit data to third parties.

We do not share your information with any other third parties, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.

## 4. Your Choices and Rights

- **Access and edit:** All of your data is visible and editable within the App itself — workouts, food entries, weight logs, and body scans can each be edited or deleted directly from their respective screens.

- **Delete your data:** You can delete individual entries at any time within the App. Deleting the App from your device removes all locally stored data associated with it.

- **Disable optional features:** Health sync, workout reminder notifications, and Sign in with Apple are all optional and can be turned off at any time in the App's Settings or in iOS Settings.

- **Camera and photo permissions:** You can revoke camera access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. Since the App uses Apple's photo picker rather than direct photo library access, there is no separate photo library permission to manage.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to request a copy of your data or confirmation of what we hold. Because Accountable does not transmit or store your personal data on any servers we control, we do not hold a separate copy of your data to provide — it exists only on your own device (and, if you enable it, in your own personal iCloud account).

## 5. Children's Privacy

Accountable is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@theaccountablefitness.com so we can address it.

## 6. Data Security

Because your data is stored locally on your device, its security depends in large part on your device's own security features (passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, encryption at rest, etc.). We encourage you to keep your device's operating system up to date and to use a passcode or biometric lock. If you enable iCloud sync in the future, your data is protected by Apple's iCloud security and encryption practices.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
